Depression doesn't exist?

Any takers? I believe what is commonly referred to as depression is nothing more than the result of a subconscious choice to behave differently. What is the intended effect of this choice? That's dependent on the individual. Some seek attention and sympathy, while others crave uniqueness and separation. Perhaps heartlessness and a genuine lack of empathy has been masked with the veil of "depression". Whatever the individual reason may be, it is certain that there are no scientific studies conclusive of the commonly held notion that diminished serotonin levels, amongst other chemical imbalances, occur at all. You say depression? I say excuses. Please bear in mind that it will take a great deal of honest introspection to agree with me. As those who use excuses to define their existence will battle pionately to prevent being exposed, I expect some serious flaming. Take your best shots, you dishonest, cold-hearted s!
