Why does everyone ume that the British are obsessed with the Royal Wedding?

Im not that fussed about the royal wedding. From a personal point of view the royal couple have never done anything signficant that entitles them to have their wedding watched by millions of viewers. Im just going to put my feet up and enjoy my day off school! :D
