Can blindness be temporary?

I was working around the yard and hit my 9 month old puppy in the eye with a piece of wood. We rushed to the vet (because her eye instantly swelled to the size of a tennis ball) and she gave us $75 worth of eye drops and a shot of anti-inflammatory to try and save the eye. Three days have ped now and the eye has went back to normal size ( still very bloody in the white) and it isn't quite looking the direction it should be. I covered her good eye with a cloth and she appears to be blind in the injured eye. Is there a chance that once the blood leaves the eye that she may see out of it again, or is the blindness most likely permanent?
