Something for heavily pigmented skinned (black) people to meditate on...........?
by a white guy. So i just read this long thread which made a bunch of generalizations against black people. And of coarse because i am white and my parents are racist i noticed many things i used to agree with or will agree with in the future (racism is like an on and off switch, you need consistent reason to shut it off). I read it knowingly that whoever started it had experienced a great deal of angry hateful thought against a scapegoat and only did so because our race is so dependant on violence and hate. So anyways this is what i would like to share, that you might like to meditate on. recently at the DIA i had the opportunity of viewing 4 of the only existing art pieces constructed by indigenous Africans during the slave trades. This piece was an elephant tusk carved into depictions of slave trade (people in chains, people selling people) and on the very top was a monkey. The reason for this monkey was YOUR ANCESTORS used to think monkeys were the most vile creatures on the planet. They stole, they threw things, they bit. I mention this because a common epithet used against blacks by whites is calling them monkeys. Oscar Wilde once said "the highest as the lowest form of criticism is a mode of autobiography". What is your take on this?
